Got back from my trip to Denver a few days ago and have just now found the time to sit down and blog about it! Tucows was a sponsor at the Software Industry Conference which was held at the Hyatt Regency Tech Center in Denver, CO again this year so I flew in to represent. It was nice to be able to meet so many like-minded geeks who share my interest in computers and software! I attended last year too, so I noticed many familiar faces but lots of new ones too. I admit, I'm bad with names. Thank the gods they made us all wear our names around our neck on our passes or I'd have never kept them all straight!
Below is a picture of Matt, myself, Greg and Jordan (a good portion of the Tucows Content Division) at the Shareware Industry Awards, which were held Saturday evening.

I was not surprised that VMware, Google Earth, Skype and Firefox were among the winners in the categories that they were nominated in. On the other hand, it was surprising to see Corel's PaintShop Pro beat out IrfanView but only because IrfanView has been winning for years and years. Both are excellent programs, too bad only one can win the award! Tucows “Most Votes” award went to SpeedUpMyPC by Uniblue Systems. Wow, that many of you use that program? Hmm, 5 cows, 97% popularity... I'll have to give it a closer look, eh?
Ok, here's a shot of the lobby the night of the SIA show that I took from the 8th floor. After a few glasses of wine, just looking over the balcony was enough to make me turn a few shades of green. So yeah, that's why this is the only one that turned out, but the hotel has way-super-cool-impressive architecture and my initial search turned up nothing in regards to the architect(s)... hmmm, we might have to dig a little deeepahhhhh!

And finally, here's a pic of Greg and Jordan at the Tucows booth on exhibit night.

One of the highlights of the trip was finally getting to meet a new member of our editorial team, Jordan Running. We had fun stacking up an impressive tower/pyramid of squishy cows before the show and I took pictures of it with my phone, but this is the only one that (almost) came out, sorry.

Then a guy came up and said,"if I tap it right here will it all fall over?" *tap tap* and thar she blew. Well, then we stacked a second one that was structurally more sound than the previous one, but only as sound as a stack of foam cows can be, as Jordan pointed out.

Another highlight of my trip to Denver was finally getting a chance to check my mail and finding out a couple of the guys from me.dium were going to be at the hotel for a meeting during the conference and were hoping to chat with me! I think I may have the liberty to say that they are working on something very very cool, but I've been sworn to secrecy about what, exactly, it is... I CAN'T WAIT TO TELL YOU! Okay, I can wait, but only because I have to!
In other news, right before I left for the conference, I found out that Librarian Chick received it's 100th review on StumbleUpon! I then found out that over 1050 people have saved Librarian chick in their del.icio.us bookmarks! Rock on! Also the day before the conference, Tucows launched it's new site design so check it on out!
Well, I look forward to diving into this stack of software sitting on my desk that I've been asked to review. This weekend, I'll be a vendor at the Kearsley Park Art Fair so I've got to start packing up my goodies tomorrow!
