Munch's "The Scream" Found
by
Sya
on Thu 31 Aug 2006 02:39 PM EDT
"The Scream" and another stolen masterpiece by Norwegian artist Edvard Munch were recovered by police today, two years after it was stolen from an Oslo museum.
"'The Scream' and 'Madonna' are now in police possession," police chief Iver Stensrud told a news conference. "The damage is much less than we could have feared."
This just in time to ruin Mars' ad campaign for their new dark chocolate M&M's which are soon to make their debut. Hip hip hooray for the return of Munch's art and dark chocolate!
This reminded me of the time I put together a list of Scream imitations and remakes done by artists at Deviant Art. Some of them are pretty funny so I figured I'd post the link to the list.

Guess-the-Google

This is just too much fun! It's a game called Guess-the-Google in which the player is given a bunch of thumbnails and the user has to guess which keyword, if used in a Google search, would return those images. Can you make the list of top scorers?

The Art of Sya Titia
by
Sya
on Mon 28 Aug 2006 01:59 PM EDT
A while back I received a comment from another Sya. She said she was Dutch and that she was an artist also. Woah, cool! My grandfather is Dutch! She linked me to her gallery online and I wanted to share it here. She has posted many pictures of her beautiful ethereal paintings that seem to transport the viewer to a heavenly, surrealistic plane. It's like walking through a dream. She does portraits and she takes commissions too so check out that gallery as well.
Hello Sya, wherever in the Nederlands you may be... I wish you great success!

on Sun 27 Aug 2006 08:32 PM EDT
Earlier this month I was a featured artist at Future-Art-Magazine at Deviant Art. I had an opportunity to talk a bit about my interest in fractals and just thought I'd share this great page layout with you. I also want to point you to their growing gallery where they feature many artists ( index). My thanks goes out to my friend, Carolyn for nominating me!

Senseless Acts of Beauty
by
Sya
on Tue 15 Aug 2006 04:18 PM EDT
All over the world people are committing senseless acts of beauty every day. It's all about good graffiti, and the site was started with a collection of images from an exhibition of Urban Pictographs and Petroglyphs by Frank Foreman. Now visitors to the site can submit their own images of "good graffiti" which can be viewed as a slideshow by clicking this link.
Creatives of the world, unite!
OMG, I didn't just say that.

Three Years of Pictures
by
Sya
on Sat 12 Aug 2006 09:56 AM EDT
In November of 2001, artist Ahree Lee began taking pictures of herself once a day. This video montage, titled Me, is the result after three years of pictures. Each second of screen time represents about one week's worth of pictures. The short movie was screened at a number of festivals including L.A. Shorts Fest, the Silver Lake Film Festival in Los Angeles, and Film Fest New Haven, where it won audience and jury awards.

I do not know where this image originated from, but thought it was too cool not to share! Kids, don't do this at home! I can foresee some hideous roadrash scars.
Oh yeah, since I've got you here, might as well share this little gem with you too! When Girlfriends Go Biszerk... You go girl!!

A is for Amy
by
Sya
on Fri 04 Aug 2006 12:03 AM EDT
I've been slacking on my blog lately. My life has been crazy for the last month or so... my apologies. Lots of travel, lots of partying, making new friends, house repairs, art fairs... I haven't had time to work on my dragon either. Bah.
Who needs sleep? I'm having a blast!
This one is for my sister, who regularly reads my blog because she loves me! Her name is Amy too. Oh yeah, and one time, she even fell down some stairs and hurt herself pretty bad. She didn't die though.
