These are the Pro's and Con's of Censorship
by
kylere
on Fri 30 Dec 2005 10:29 PM EST
The real reason censorship should be rejected by any thinking creature is that given time, all censorship becomes easily lampoonable. The site Taboo Tunes (VMNSFW, very moderately not safe for work, aka your boss would have to be a far-right-wing republican censor like Bush, or a far-left-wing democrat censor like Gore to be bothered by it) covers the situation in a quick and easy to absorb manner befitting the 60 second attention span of the electorate. Make sure you check out the Gallery of the Forbidden for the maximum data to time efficiency required to get the point about the long term value of any censorship.
BTW, you still cannot buy a Hustler in Cincinnati, and yes Larry Flint was gunned down in broad daylight on courthouse steps surrounded by "Police Officers" who were entirely incapable of determining the location of the shooter.

| | Do we have to say anything other than Sya is the best wife in the history of marriage, and my mother and her win the best team award. Everyone should be lucky enough to have the people who love them buy them things they want but cannot bring themselves to purchase. You can see me having a bit of fun with my Force FX lightsaber here. If you can ignore Ewoks and the Prequels and still love Star Wars as I do, then you should check out Master Replicas . I present them both with the "Thanks for the Phat X-mas l00t" award |

Play Colorama!
by
Sya
on Sat 24 Dec 2005 02:55 PM EST
Ok, so I got to IQ level 1420 before I started getting bored. I might go back to it later though. ;) Colorama is a fun game in which you have to find the one block that is different in the two pictures. At first, the blocks start out very large and each level they get smaller and smaller, making it more difficult to find the off-colored block.
While you're there, check out the other games offered by the fun folks at www.gamesforthebrain.com

Okay, if you have Google Earth, then you already know we got it as a freebee to make stomaching the AOL purchase easier for Google Fans. It is quite simply, one of the coolest tools you can download for free. It really needs more imagery levels but it is very well done.
Okay anyhow, if you do not have it, download it. Then click on the http://services.google.com/earth/kmz/SantaRadar.kml (direct link to Google, or click on Google link at top and move there).
You can watch in "realtime" as Santa delivers presents for the next 24 hours. It is very cool, and got me in that kid-who-once-believed-in-Santa spirit.

on Fri 23 Dec 2005 07:43 PM EST
"The Timeline of Art History is a chronological, geographical, and thematic exploration of the history of art from around the world, as illustrated especially by the Metropolitan Museum of Art's collection. The Museum's curatorial, conservation, and education staff—the largest team of art experts anywhere in the world—research and write the Timeline, which is an invaluable reference and research tool for students, educators, scholars, and anyone interested in the study of art history and related subjects. First launched in 2000, the Timeline now extends from prehistory to the present day. The Timeline will continue to expand in scope and depth, and also reflect the most up–to–date scholarship." - The Metropolitan Museum of Art

Good Mechanics, Bad Mechanics!
by

on Wed 21 Dec 2005 04:36 PM EST
Car repairs are almost always a nightmare experience because Garages and Mechanics have been screwing over the public so long that most of them are incapable of functioning in any other manner. Last night Sya and I were travelling to do some unwanted but needed grocery shopping when the grind kicked in, the grind that is from the brakes. Sigh, I knew grinding brakes meant 100-300 bucks before a millisecond had passed. I more »

So a couple years ago the Chicago tribune asked readers to send in pictures of their children's traumatic experiences with Santa. Since then, SouthFlorida.com has put together a compilation of photos sent to them by parents and grandparents all over the nation: Scared of Santa
Yeah, some of those Santas scared me too.

How Our Thoughts Affect Water
by
Sya
on Thu 15 Dec 2005 11:09 AM EST
Miraculous Messages from Water is a site that will change the way you look at a simple glass of water for the rest of your life.
Dr. Masaru Emoto, a Japanese visionary, has published a book, The Hidden Messages in Water, about his research of water, the source of all life on planet earth. He provides factual evidence that human vibrational energy, thoughts, words, ideas and even music affect the molecular structure of water.
By freezing droplets of water and then examining them under a dark field microscope that can take photographs, he has been able to document the diversity of water molecules and the effect of the environment upon their structure. The photographs you will see on this site show the incredible reflections of water which is highly responsive to our emotions and thoughts. more »

I Make Kitty Scared
by
Sya
on Fri 02 Dec 2005 10:40 PM EST
Picture Snow White or Sleeping Beauty frolicking in the forest, singing songs with the little animals and the sound of her beautiful voice causes the critters to gather around and gaze upon her lovingly. The birds are inspired to sing quaint little harmonies and the world is all a'bliss.
Pretty little picture, yes, but alas, it's make-believe. Unfortunately, my reality is much to the contrary. My cat is neurotic and he hates to hear me sing. Whenever I sing, he goes freaking ballistic and turns into an attack cat! more »
