I have many visions. I hope to live long enough to express each one of them through one form of art or another. My love of fractal mathematics influences even the works created using traditional mediums. The concepts of infinity, recursion, and reproduction are reoccurring themes.

View Article  Communication
Think about all the ways you communicate. In one day, I can easily mutually communicate or receive messages through several mediums. The Internet is my main source, chatting, email, reading, writing, conversing with others. Television, radio, telephone, snail mail, books, newspapers, magazines... many times words are agonized over before being transmitted, in the hopes to convey a precise message whether it be a broadcast or in print. But let's not forget the one way of communication I enjoy most (and I'm sure I'm not alone in this), and that is face-to-face.    more »

-->>UPDATE<<--

Had a little touch up work done... here's how it came out. I twisted at a bit of an angle which is why it doesn't look as symmetrical at the top. But yeah, it rocks even if my mother-in-law does think it's too big ;)

This is the computer my husband and I built last year. I named her Imagination because she handles all of my graphics apps, scanning, and most of the fractal rendering.

View Article  The Infamous Pickle Incident of 1990
Michael and I met with Jon and Jodi for drinks last night and somehow the conversation turned to the time I had to work the relish line at the pickle factory as punishment for starting a pickle fight. It is a story that is decidedly bloggable, so here goes!

Now, I've had my share of shit jobs in the past. I was a school janitor, I was a house-cleaning lady, I flipped burgers, I took care of old people and invalids, I even tried my hand at telemarketing (yeah! Shame on my 17 year old self!) but the worst job I ever had was when I worked on the assembly line at the pickle factory.

It was a minimum wage job but my step-sister and I (both 16) needed a job for the summer. We were hired through a temp agency as seasonal help. One could smell the place miles away, but nothing compared to the wretched dill fumes that hit you in the face the instant you stepped through the doors of the factory. The smell permeated the air and my clothing, skin and hair as well. We usually worked second shift, which didn't end until the early morning hours.

Despite the fact that I had recently had reconstructive bone surgery on both of my feet, I was able to stand, albeit miserably, on the assembly line for hours and hours where I would wash cucumbers and push them into jars. I believe my official title was "pickle packer" ... anyway, about the pickle fight...   more »
View Article  The Strangest Thing You Believe to be True
I was contacted by Jose from Meme Therapy via StumbleUpon recently regarding a thought-provoking and enlightening experiment you might be interested in. It's called The Stumblers Brain Parade Experiment, a social brain-picking study that asks the question, "What is the strangest thing you believe to be true?"

It started with this article, Our Strange Beliefs, and Jose has been obsessively asking the question ever since. He's been receiving a lot of very interesting and unconventional answers; I think you'll agree once you've read Part One and Part Two. I didn't want to be influenced by what the others wrote, so I didn't read them until after I'd submitted my response. It totally blows me away how many people agree that the world we live in is not real. My answer won't show up until later this week, but here's how I replied...   more »

Earlier this month I was a featured artist at Future-Art-Magazine at Deviant Art. I had an opportunity to talk a bit about my interest in fractals and just thought I'd share this great page layout with you. I also want to point you to their growing gallery where they feature many artists (index). My thanks goes out to my friend, Carolyn for nominating me!

Infinity. Immortality. The idea that there is something beyond what we know, something larger than our existence, yet perhaps something as simple as a single string of code. This is what fascinates me most of all. This is the foundation of my passion for fractals.   more »

Recently, I was asked for an interview by fractal-enthusiast, Nik Meijer. Nik and I have co-administrated 2 important fractal communities together and he has become a good friend of mine.
