In an effort to be smart with money and also to be environmentally conscious (being a Unitarian Universalist is harder than being a xtian; I have to help take care of the earth rather than hoping for zombie jeebus to come back once we have despoiled it), I have been using mass transit to get back and forth to work since I moved to Cincinnati in March. The Transit Authority of Northern Kentucky(TANK) website makes very nice use of Google maps and technology to simply plan trips around the greater Cincinnati and northern Kentucky area. The buses are usually clean and in good repair and the drivers seem able to keep a schedule within reason.

I think that quote from Liz Coleman's TED talk ties into this next one by Dan Ariely quite nicely.

Why should we be concerned with diversity among the Supreme Court? Why does it matter if Sotomayor will be the sixth Catholic on the nine-member court?

So you don't have to read the entire article, I'm pulling the following excerpt from Catholic Answers Special Report on Gay Marriage, but feel free to read the whole thing at your leisure. They believe that - "Legalization of same-sex marriage will not bring absolution nor deliver inner peace. Homosexuals will continue to suffer from the problems their "lifestyle" creates, even if every state legislature and both houses of Congress were to pass bills extolling homosexual behavior and privileging their relationships over those of heterosexuals. Active homosexuals will continue seeking something that they will never find through the things they do with strangers. They will still be tragically unhappy people. Such behavior will never offer the basis for marriage nor satisfy their relationship needs as persons. Homosexuals need compassion, but since they will not benefit by homosexual "marriage," there is no reason for society to redefine marriage to include same-sex couples. In fact, recognition of this intrinsically disordered behavior can have only bad effects on society."

And in case there were any doubt, here's another clarifying statement on how Catholics feel about Gay Marriage: "The institution of marriage is precious. It enhances the health, longevity, and well-being of married couples. It increases the health, vocational success, and emotional well-being of children. In providing all these benefits, heterosexual marriage contributes to the happiness and prosperity of society. Marriage must, therefore, remain limited to one man and one woman who strive to keep their marriage exclusive, unconditional, permanent, and life-giving. Nothing less will ever meet the needs of the human person, because nothing less satisfies."

And if that didn't clear it up for you, they close with: "Society has a lot to lose from legalizing homosexual marriage. And homosexuals have nothing to gain."

Why should American citizens be concerned? Because in accordance with the Constitution, the judicial power of the United States is vested in The Supreme Court and because as American citizens, our concerns run much deeper than Roe v. Wade.


This video actually sickens me. The way she says atheist like it's a dirty word made me pretend to squish her head between my finger and thumb. What's ironic is Fox's blatantly incorrect claim of unbiased reporting and the advertisement in the online video I had to sit through was for the Latter Day Saints.

I have been feeling crappy lately, so last night I crashed early and woke up feeling semi human before it was too late to spend a few minutes at least watching TV with Stacy. Started up my PC ( long story as to why I have to watch TV on my PC at the moment) and defragged the C drive while I got some coffee, I updated my Video Drivers and noticed I had no sound. Speakers were on, looked for speaker on task bar, none there, went to Control Panel and it says, "No Audio Device" and it is greyed out.   more »

Because everyone loves robots... even Jesus!



Buyer beware: This harmless looking robot is just a decoy. We all know the Chinese are inventing fire-breathing robot armies to destroy Christian America! This is a direct quote from the absurd article:
"I am extremely terrified of Chinese people and again you should be too Don’t let people tell you are racist for feeling this way, because anyone in their right mind fears a gigantic Godless firebreathing robot designed to burn the life out of all things good and moral." (SIC)

Go ahead and read the entire article for a good hearty guffaw. It's hard to believe anyone "in their right mind" truly loses sleep over this, but just in case...

Let me introduce you to a kinder, gentler robot. Tweenbots are simple motorized cardboard bots created by New Yorker, Kacie Kinzer, that rely on human interaction to reach their destination. Dependent on human empathy for anthropomorphic objects, these robots travel throughout the city, unharmed, and amazingly, they always achieve their mission.




Designed at the University of Pennsylvania, this robot is made of modules that can recognize each other and it can reassemble itself after it's been pulled apart. Not quite sure what else it can do, but I'm guessing it's just a preliminary prototype for the life-sized, blazing sword-wielding, Voltron we've all been waiting for. You know, because the only use for robots is to destroy our adversaries in battle. King Zarkon, be forewarned.

For brevity's sake, I'll just link you to the next video. In the future, we'll all need to know how to speak robot language in order to protect ourselves from their fiery breath of destruction. So go learn how binary numbers work in 60 seconds to get a head start and teach your children. Human civilization depends on it!
